The Manatee Fish and Game Association is bringing back its popular Sportsman Swap on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Palma Sola Botanical Park, 9800 17th Ave. N.W. in Bradenton.
“Stroll into this free event with old gear in hand and leave with something new or useful. Have a large inventory? Set up a table to sell your inventory for just $20,” the event web page says.
Swap vendors can register for a table in advance using the information and link provided at manateefishandgame.org. The fee for a table is $20, plus a $3.18 processing fee. Attendees can use the same information to register to attend the swap meeting free of charge.
This is a great opportunity to meet knowledgeable local hunters and fishermen, find unique items, exchange stories and maybe even pick up some valuable information on local fishing and hunting opportunities. While you’re there, be sure to check out the botanical garden’s beautiful grounds and walk among its unique collection of rare fruit trees.
The Manatee Fish and Game Association is a local organization dedicated to hunting, fishing and environmental conservation. Founded in 1935, it brings together individuals who are passionate about wildlife and outdoor activities. The association focuses on promoting responsible practices among hunters and fishers while advocating for the protection of wildlife habitats.
Over the years, the association has led the way in establishing Myakka River State Park, advocated for meaningful fish and game limits and laws, and helped establish the Manatee County Duette Preserve Hunting Program. The association also supports youth programs including the Manasota Regional Envirothon, the annual Jerry Hill Memorial Kids Fishing Tournament, Manatee County’s youth fishing camps and free covered wagon tours at the Duette Preserve.
The Manatee Fish and Game Association provides grants for wildlife habitat-related projects through its fund established at the Manatee Community Foundation.
