HOLMES BEACH – Jaxx Wing Co. owner Josh Hatch has opened a new location in Holmes Beach in the leased space at 3009 Gulf Drive previously occupied by Double Deez Chicago Style Restaurant.
The Holmes Beach location opened on Thursday, Oct. 22, and now offers a sports bar menu and extended hours aimed at filling a late-night food gap on Anna Maria Island.
The Holmes Beach location is the fourth Jaxx Wing Co. restaurant. The original, Jaxx Sports Bar and Grill, is in Palmetto. Hatch, who served in the U.S. Coast Guard for six years, opened a Bradenton location in 2024 and recently opened a second Palmetto location.
Hatch said the Holmes Beach location came about unexpectedly. As a Harley-Davidson rider, he often stops at the Anchor Inn while riding the Anna Maria Loop. He noticed Double Deez was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and he asked the property owners – Anchor Inn owners Bobby and Darla Tingler – to let him know if the restaurant space ever became available. About eight months later, when the Double Deez lease was not renewed, Hatch was offered the space.
The Jaxx Wing Co. menu features wings, but “It’s wings, beer and more,” Hatch said, noting the restaurant also serves wine.
The wings come with 15 sauce choices, including Stingin’ Honey Garlic, sweet teriyaki, sweet Thai chili and Carolina Tangy Gold, as well as five different dry rubs. Ten wings cost $18 and 20 wings cost $33. An order of boneless wings is $15.
The starters menu includes loaded fried pickle chips, tater tots, soft pretzel bites, shrimp poppers and Southwest egg rolls. The salads range from $12 to $15 and include house, Caesar, Greek, chef and Buffalo chicken salads.
Selling for $10 to $15, the sandwiches and wrap offerings include a Buffalo chicken sandwich, a Reuben, a Philly cheesesteak, a chicken Caesar wrap and a classic BLT. The menu also includes quesadillas, nachos and a pickle-brined, breaded fried chicken sandwich.
The burgers range from $14 to $18 and include a classic build-your-own burger and “The Heart Attack” burger that’s topped with tomatoes, onions, cheese, pastrami and Thousand Island dressing.
The Holmes Beach location opens daily at 11 a.m. It closes at 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Hatch said the hours may change as needed, but he wants Jaxx to be a late-night food option on the Island.
“We’ve been the people stuck on the Island whenever there’s nowhere to grab food,” he said.
Hatch also plans to attract business from visitors staying in vacation rental homes by offering to cater the visiting group’s first meal on arrival day.
“Getting here is the worst day. No one knows what to eat,” Hatch said.
He said a dedicated catering menu, including in-home setup, will follow once the kitchen is running at full speed.
