BRADENTON BEACH – In celebration of Halloween, several structures along Bridge Street will be decorated with skeletons during the month of October.
On Sept. 3, the city commission approved the Bridge Street Merchants association’s request to install the “Bridge Street Bone Yard” decorations to be displayed from Oct. 1 through Nov. 1.
The decorating displays will feature skeletons climbing and interacting with the buildings and other structures along the Bridge Street corridor, including the city-owned pergola and clock tower at the foot of Historic Bridge Street Pier.
The Bridge Street Merchants will supply the skeletons and handle their installation and removal, according to the application submitted by association president and Drift-In owner Derek Williams.
BridgeWalk resort owner Angela Rodocker and event organizer Stephanie Citro Hudson presented the decorating proposal to the commission.
“The displays will bring people to Bridge Street during the month of October,” Rodocker told the commission.
The Bridge Street Merchants have organized previous seasonal promotions and community events and will hold a “Halloween Spooktacular” on Bridge Street on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., according to the AMI South End website. The Halloween event will feature local vendors, trick or treating, games and live entertainment.
