ANNA MARIA – After sustaining major damage during Hurricane Milton in 2024, Body & Sol Spa and Wellness in Anna Maria is open again.
Wash Construction completed the renovation project on behalf of the Cagnina family that owns the old IGA grocery store building at 9805 Gulf Drive. Body & Sol Spa and Wellness is located on the second story of the historic building that features Ginny’s and Jane E’s Café on the ground level.
The reopening of the second-story space was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony conducted by the Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce. The celebration also included festive snacks and “reveal deals.”
The reimagining of the second-story space now includes UPSTAIRS – a collaborative endeavor that brings together massage, yoga, boutique shopping and original local art.
“With so much time to rethink the space after the back-to-back hurricanes in 2024, UPSTAIRS became an opportunity to create something more visible, more collaborative and more reflective of the Island today,” Body & Sol owner Amanda Escobio said.
The grand reopening press release says the UPSTAIRS collective expands Body & Sol’s wellness offerings with a solid yoga program. Cindy Phillips, who operated Island Yoga Space there for nearly 20 years, now welcomes Rachael Croll – known for her beach and paddleboard yoga classes – to join her, expanding the yoga offerings.
“We have collaborated so well in the past, this felt like a natural evolution to us both,” Phillips said.
Building on the spirit of the UPSTAIRS collaboration is local art curated by Cove – the acclaimed gallery on Bridge Street in Bradenton Beach, where Escobio owns and operates Sea-renity Beach Spa & Bou-tiki, alongside Cove founder and local artist and interior designer Kelly Headley.
“Cove is creating a ‘Shore to Deep Waters’ art story for the inaugural show. We’re excited to bring art classes and creative experiences into the space as we introduce our ‘Inner Cove’ community,” Headley said in the press release.
