The Anna Maria Island Community Center held its 5th annual charity golf tournament on Friday October 11th to record numbers of golfers for the event. Golf Committee Chairman Jason Sato said, “It was an honor to host such a great event. We are very grateful for the support of the community, volunteers, staff and committee”.

With the help of a hard working committee, the Center is pleased to announce that the preliminary figures look like the tourney matched last year’s gross total of $26,000 for the youth programs and services at the Community Center. The golf committee was made up of volunteers Jason Sato (Chairman), Charles Bucky, Scott Eason, Jordan Pritchard, Jonathan Schneider, Jake Spooner and Center staff members Scott Dell, Ryan Hogan, Sharen Pittman and Sandee Pruett.

The golf outing was held this year at the Longboat Key Club Islandside course and had forty-two sponsors, including the Island Sun Newspaper, and twenty six foursomes of players supporting the cause. It was a beautiful day on the links and the spirits where high in support of the Center’s kids programs. Awards were given to:

First Place: Team Water Boy – Chris Celano, Chuck McCracken, Larry Waterman and Gary Zink

Restaurant Challenge Winners: Team Chiles Group Restaurants – Steve Ananicz, Anthony Cucci, Ian Fairweather and Joe Rogers

Closest to the Pins: Joe Rogers and Mike Warren

Longest Drive: Scott Eason

A fun time was had by all and at the end it is the Island kids that ultimately win!
