BRADENTON BEACH – The Anna Maria Island Moose Lodge #2188, 110 Gulf Drive S., brought home two first place international awards from its conference in Milwaukee, Wis. last week.

The Shining Star Award for Lodge of the Year (the men’s group) and the Shining Star Award for Chapter of the Year (the women’s group) were only the beginning of the awards.

The Island Moose sponsored the second and third most new members worldwide, with Lodge Governor Ron Luckerman bringing in 127 new members and Sandra Zenzel bringing in 100 new members.

The Premier Lodge Award also was bestowed, signifying that the group met all qualifications including meeting donation requirements to charities.

The lodge (men) also was first in new lodge applications and the chapter (women) was first in new chapter applications.

A private awards party is planned this weekend for members at the lodge, which is sporting a new mural by local artist Chad Ruis and is continuing with ongoing renovations, including a new bar.

The Island Moose was established in 1968 on Bridge Street, and moved to its present location at the west end of Bridge Street in 1974.
