Center's soccer season, which will see a record
30 teams competing in various divisions.

Soccer is back and kickin at the Anna Maria Island Community Center. The league has formed a record breaking 30 teams this year, more than any other year in any sport offered in the 50 years at the Center.

Center Athletic Director, Andy Jonatzke, said, “It is fantastic to see so many families excited to participate. The season is off to a great start and thanks to everyone for being a part of this record breaking year.”

The season began last week with the annual kick-off banquet. The event raised more than $1,300 for the league. Sean Murphy and the Beach Bistro donated the food and fed over 350 people. All the players went home with a new uniform and prepared themselves for the weekend Spirit Games. Fans came out in droves to watch and support their favorite teams. Spectators and players dressed up in their team colors, painted their hair and made posters to show their team spirit. This year’s Team Spirit winners are:

4-5-year-olds: Island Dental Spa (royal blue), Coach Kelly Joseph;
6-7-year-olds: Dojo Athletics (lime), Coach April Jonatzke;
8-9-year-olds: Fran Maxon Real Estate (sky blue), Coach Rich Bell;
