ANNA MARIA – Head out on the highway and make your way to Pine Avenue on Oct. 17 for Bayfest’s annual Classic Car Show.

“Cars only will be on display from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.,” organizer Bill Mergens said. “There will be 100 cars and DJ Cruzin’ to the Hop with Lance will play oldies.”

Participants will judge the cars and 20 to 25 trophies will be awarded at 3 p.m. In addition, there will be trophies for the Mayor’s Choice, the Chamber’s Choice and The Sun's Choice.

“Car shows are usually in parking lots,” Mergens pointed out. “The great thing about this one is that people can come to see the cars and spend the day enjoying the festival.

“A lot of car shows are primarily male oriented. This one brings out the wives because it gives them something to do while their husbands look at the cars.”

Some of the classic cars that will be on display include: 1902 Oldsmobile Curve Dash, 1923 Ford T Bucket, 1948 Ford panel truck, 1949 Harley Davidson Servi-Car, 1953 Studebaker Commander, 1957 Buick Super, 1958 Chevy Cameo PU, 1961 Corvette, 1962 Austin Healy, 1969 Camaro SS Conv., 1974 Cadillac Eldorado Conv., 1986 Buick GN, 2000 Saleen S281 and 2010 Camaro RS/SS.
